Regardless of how empowering the message may be, that leap of faith still looks pretty scary! It's still a big black chasm and personally, no amount of CAPS and bolded text is going to make me rush headlong across it with blind faith. Motivational? Yes. Practical? Not for me.
To get around that (because I really do like the message and intent), I thought I'd come up with a more sedate version. One more suitable for those of us that aren't adrenaline-junkies. The precipices are still there. The chasm is still there. The difference is that we're doing this in broad daylight. What's with this jumping over chasm business in the dark? Sure, it looks cool but anything unknown is immediately 200% scarier done in the dark, no? For all us worry-warts, I added a worst-case scenario. If we jumped and didn't quite make it, then what? Well, there's another ledge just further down. We have a different starting point now. Maybe one that's even harder to jump from, but it's ok. There are always helping hands along the way, sometimes in unexpected forms. All we need to do is look, reach out and grab to the other side.
So if you're ever feeling down because you challenged yourself and ended up somewhere you didn't expect, don't beat yourself up over it. Repeat this temporary mantra of "Yes, I can!" and remember this little doodle. It's helped me readjust myself mentally and keep going, and I hope it may help you too :)
