Quaint. Charming. Unique.
These are just some of the adjectives being used to describe hand-lettered signs and I couldn't agree more! I love the clean, almost clinical feel of modern type (especially all the sans serif fonts), but I also appreciate the personality exuded by fonts from decades past with different widths, heights, flourishes and font elements.. sometimes all jumbled together in one word. That being said, I also like legible fonts... and here are some of my current favorites that are inspiring me at the moment. Best thing about each one is that each letterer turns simple words into works of art with careful placement and planning, but makes it look so simple and casual. Now that's skill!
Do you have a favorite hand-letterer? Which one of the above is your favorite?
