Yup. It took a lot of years and willpower to stop impulse buys like that. Mainly because I quickly ran out of room for all the pretty things that quickly turned to annoyances and extra boxes whenever I moved houses (Which was a lot. Like every summer out of the dorms during university days.)
My favorite types are the designs that serve both a pretty form and a sturdy function. To find what I consider a good packaging design is harder than you think! A lot of pretty packaging is just that.. pretty. Others are too functional and not as nice to look at. It's a fine balance, and of course, also quite subjective.
With so many materials and options out there these days, we're constantly accosted with a visual feast of packaging designs. Some are more successful than others as they all vie for your attention. Sometimes, I wonder if we should go the full circle again and stick with plain boxes with obvious text stating what something is. But then again, where would the fun be in that? :)
